Ronald Craig Higginbotham

Ronald Craig Higginbotham, formerly of Gig Harbor Washington, passed away quietly after a brief illness in Anderson, Indiana on September 19, 2023.

Ron was born in San Jose, California…the eldest of five children. Although the family lived in several areas of the country, Ron called the waters of Alaska and Gig Harbor, Washington state home for many years before moving to Indiana.

Ron was a 1971 graduate of Peninsula High School where he played football, and was a state champion diver. He worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and was an outdoor enthusiast who was as comfortable on a boat as he was in the wilderness. Ron loved reading, cooking, and his beloved dog ‘Boo-Boo.’ Ron was a great storyteller – painting vivid pictures of his adventures with words. He had a subtle and dry sense of humor which will be missed by family and friends who shared part of his journey.

Ron was predeceased by father – Samuel L. Higginbotham and mother – Jerrie Higginbotham. He was also predeceased by a sister Kathryn Higginbotham. He is survived by Greg Higginbotham (WA), Pam and Steve Shiner (CT) and Cheri Brown (AZ). He leaves behind several nephews and nieces and many great nephews and nieces.
