Rhonda Cahill Taylor Waterstradt passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in St. Petersburg, FL, at the age of 73, after a brief illness. A vibrant soul, Rhonda left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born on May 16, 1951, Rhonda spent 35 joyful years in Gig Harbor, WA, where she created a life full of love, learning, and laughter. Later in life, she embraced Florida’s sunshine and cultural vibrancy — charmed by everything from scenic beauty to the magic of Mickey Mouse.

A dedicated educator, Rhonda spent 25 years teaching at Goodman Middle School, followed by five years as Vice Principal. She was a passionate teacher who believed deeply in her students’ potential, touching the lives of countless students and their families. Her wisdom, humor, and unwavering commitment to excellence left a lasting legacy. To those lucky enough to sit in her classroom, Rhonda was more than a teacher; she was a mentor and guide. If you can still craft a sentence with clarity, it’s likely thanks to her.

Rhonda mentored not only her students but also her colleagues; she loved guiding student teachers to become the best educators they could be.

Rhonda filled our world with her light, energy, and laughter. She had a remarkable ability to brighten any room she entered and inspire others to be their best selves. You were a better person for knowing Rhonda, whether it was for just 5 minutes or for years.

Her greatest pride and joy were her family. She lovingly raised her two sons, Stephen and Josh Cahill, in a home overflowing with music, humor, and love. Her cherished grandchildren, Soren, Lola, and Nikoletta, brought her immense happiness, and she adored her new life with her husband, John Edwards, in St. Petersburg.

Rhonda passed suddenly surrounded by the family who loved her — devoted husband John Edwards, sons Stephen and Josh, sister Cheryl Hayes, and beloved nieces Jeanne Brosseau and Kelly Mahon. She was not alone, and she left this world knowing how deeply she was loved.

Rhonda will be remembered as a beacon of light, a source of laughter, and a force of love. She inspired all who knew her to live with joy, purpose, and a generous heart.

Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 2pm at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club-8209 Stinson Avenue-Gig Harbor. Please email your favorite photos/stories of Rhonda to [email protected]. This is a time to celebrate and share Rhonda memories.
