Marilyn Ann Jorgenson, a beloved resident of Gig Harbor and Tacoma, WA, passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 78. Marilyn was born on March 15, 1946, in Seattle, WA to Leah and Ben Saltman. She bravely battled Parkinson’s and dementia over the past few years.

She shared a life filled with love, memories, and lots of boating with her husband, Marc A. Jorgenson. Marilyn was the cherished mother of two daughters and grandmother of two: Jessica Martin, who resided in Redmond, WA with her husband, Erik Martin, and their two sons, and Lia Wallon, who lives in Portland, OR.

Marilyn grew up in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964. She furthered her education by earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a master’s degree from Saint Martin’s University.

She was active in her Jewish faith both with local organizations and keeping traditions alive with family from Shabbat candle lighting to Passover Seder.

An avid walker, baker, boater with many other hobbies including knitting and book club, Marilyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a gracious host, always making everyone feel welcome. She was also a committed and active member of her community, dedicating her time to volunteering at the local food bank and supporting young readers.

Marilyn’s legacy of compassion and community service will be remembered by all who knew her. The best way to honor her memory is to give back to your community, just as she did throughout her life.

A private memorial was held on January 26, 2025, at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will take place in the spring in Gig Habor. Her spirit and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
