Madge Alice Hubbard (Pryde), long time resident of Fox Island and Gig Harbor passed away peacefully on Dec 5, 2023.
She was born Sept. 4, 1941, in Tacoma, WA to Robert D (Dan) Pryde and Alice (Erhart). She grew up in Tacoma, WA with her twin sister Margaret (Klevmoen) and little sister Kathy (Shipman).
After graduating Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA she attended Western Washington University, where she earned a BA in Physical Education in 1963 and became a teacher of Health and PE. Shortly after this she was introduced to John (Jack) Hubbard, a pilot for USAF. The two became inseparable and were married in 1967 moving to Novato, CA where they welcomed a son Johnny and daughter Kacy.
In 1971 the family moved to Fox Island, where Madge was very active in the community. She served as the president of FICRA, befriended Governor Dixy Lee Ray and coached her kids’ soccer and baseball teams.
Madge loved Fox Island, socializing and her family including nieces and nephews and cousins. She loved to host family reunions.
Madge was a world traveler, beginning in college with studies in Mexico City & Hawaii, on to her marriage to Jack, an airline pilot, who took her to every corner of the globe including living in Berlin, Germany for close to 3 years. If she wasn’t gardening, skiing with her F.I.S.T. pals, playing all night bridge games in the neighborhood, or throwing various parties, she was curled up on the couch reading a great book. Needless to say, she NEVER STOPPED having fun & being curious and ensuring all around her were happy & healthy.
She is survived by her stepson, Jordan Hubbard and wife Pat of Boulder Creek, CA; son, Johnny Hubbard and wife Pam of Kingston, WA; and daughter, Kacy Wells and husband Jason of Chico, WA. Grandmother to Maggie and Cash Hubbard, Ciara Watkins and Cassidy Patton and great grandsons Harbor Ray and Gunner Jack.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Jan 7 2-5PM at the Gig Harbor Golf Club.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, some places she supported are the Salvation Army, Fox Island Historical Society and the Kitsap County Food Bank.
