Carol Lorraine McGinness

Carol Lorraine McGinness, 76, passed away on April 30, 2024, with her family by her bedside after a courageous battle with leukemia.

She was small in stature but mighty in commitment and determination. She was defined by her kindness, loving nature and many friends.

Carol was born January 15, 1948, in Seattle. She graduated from Franklin High School and later Washington State University. In 1970, she married her husband of 53 years, Wendell McGinness. She resided in Gig Harbor where she taught kindergarten at Artondale Elementary School for over 30 years. She was an adored teacher who was devoted to her students.

Her greatest joy was spending time at the family beach cabin on Hood Canal with her boys, Ryan as Scott. Carol loved the beach, swimming and evening bonfires with extended family and friends. She hosted many family gatherings each summer. It was her contagious smile and kindness that made everyone feel so welcome.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell, sons Ryan and Scott, brothers Kevin Hogan (Bronwyn) and Mike Hogan (Hoa). She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Hogan and mother, Edythe Hogan.

A celebration of life will be held at the Gig Harbor Methodist Church, June 21st at 2:00pm.
