Beverly Bier-Pedersen died peacefully on July 7th after a brief hospice at St. Anthony’s. She was 82, the cause was lung cancer.

Born in Pittsburgh, Beverly moved to California in ‘62 with her first husband, Ray Bier, and their two children Lori and David. After divorcing in the early 70s, Beverly relocated to Washington in ’79, where she signed her paintings as Beverly Bier-Marsh. While running The Upstairs Gallery in Federal Way, she met her second husband Andy Pedersen and moved to the Key Peninsula, where they lived with his three sons, Bjane, Finn, and Robert.

Beverly was a life-long artist, art student and art teacher, starting at the Pittsburgh Art Institute and continuing with prominent teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington. Beverly refined her artistic techniques at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London and the Sorbonne in Paris. She was known for her love of strong color and silk paintings. Her subject matter frequently included Washington wildlife and flowers. Beverly was a participant in the Gig Harbor art festival and the Puyallup Fair, as well as displaying in galleries around Washington.

Instead of a memorial, Beverly envisioned a party, where her artwork would be auctioned to fund an art scholarship in her name. This event is planned to commemorate her 83rd birthday in October.
