Overnight work planned for this week on Highway 302 spur
As part of the Purdy Creek culvert project, crews will pave the Highway 302 spur from just south of the new bridge in Purdy to where the spur meets Highway 16. The work will occur overnight next Monday through Friday, Oct. 23-27. Traffic will be directed around it.
From 7 p.m. each night until 6 a.m. the following mornings, crews will direct single-lane alternating traffic on the spur (including the existing detour around the project) between Highway 16 and the Purdy bridge.
From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the same days, the eastbound (from Bremerton) exit from Highway 16 to the spur will be closed. Those trying to travel west on Highway 302 via the Purdy Bridge will be detoured to the Burnham Drive exit and have to double back on Highway 16 to the Purdy exit.
From 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. those days, the spur onramp to the westbound (toward Bremerton) onramp to Highway 16 will be closed. Drivers wanting to head west from the Purdy bridge will be backtracked up Purdy Drive to Highway 16 eastbound, exit at Burnham, cross the highway and get back on heading west.
The gist is you can’t get on or off 16 on the Bremerton end of the spur. And the spur itself will be alternating traffic.
The project improves habitat and access for salmon in Purdy Creek by replacing culverts with bridges.
