One dead in collision near Wauna

A 40-year-old Port Orchard man died in a collision near Wauna on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 4, according to the Washington State Patrol.

WSP troopers arrested a 35-year-old man from Grapeview, in Mason County, on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DUI following the collision.

Troopers did not name the deceased victim pending notification of next of kin.

According to a WSP report on the collision, the 35-year-old was driving a Ford pickup westbound on Highway 302 near Key Peninsula Highway at about 8 p.m. Tuesday. The pickup crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a motorcycle ridden by the Port Orchard man.

Responders pronounced the 40-year-old dead at the scene. Highway 302 was partially blocked for about 3 1/2 hours.
