Gig Harbor Fire to train at marina on Wednesday
Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One will practice its response to a marina fire from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, at the Gig Harbor Marina.
The drill involves a scenario with multiple boats on fire and trapped victims. Smoke and people portraying victims may be visible in the downtown area.
No street closures are anticipated. Medical units will be staged near the Tides Tavern.
Also participating will be the Gig Harbor Police Department and the fire boat Endeavor from West Pierce Fire & Rescue of University Place.
“This simulation allows your firefighters to hone their skills and prepare for a large-scale event, while working alongside our multi-jurisdictional partners,” according to a Facebook post from Gig Harbor Fire.
