A fire at the Bujacich Dock on Saturday morning, Jan. 25, damaged two recreational boats, according to Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One.

No one was injured in the fire, though a person who lives on one of the damaged boats was displaced.
An electric space heater on board one of the damaged vessels likely caused the fire, according to a social media post from the Gig Harbor Police Department.

The fire was reported at about 7 a.m. at the dock off Harborview Drive. Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One quickly put out the flames, preventing its spread to commercial fishing boats docked near the recreational vessels.

In addition to Gig Harbor Fire, the West Pierce Fire boat, the U.S. Coast Guard and Gig Harbor police responded. Local authorities notified the state Department of Ecology to respond to any environmental concerns and a containment boom was deployed.
