19-year-old woman dies in Highway 16 crash

A 19-year-old Everett woman died following a collision on Highway 16 early on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The Washington State Patrol said the woman was driving a 2015 Honda Civic east on Highway 16 near 24th Street in Gig Harbor around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The car left the roadway and hit a guardrail before coming to rest in the ditch.

Medics took the woman to Tacoma General Hospital, where she died.

Washington State Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision. Troopers do not know if alcohol or drugs were a factor. WSP’s report on the collision noted that the 19-year-old was not wearing a seat belt.
