Tides can’t overcome Beach in state tournament
Gig Harbor rallied from a 12-point second quarter deficit to lead by as many as five points in the second half of their Class 3A state tournament quarterfinal game against Rainier Beach on Thursday, March 3.
Unfortunately for the Tides, the Vikings from Seattle had one more scoring flurry left in them.
Rainier Beach (20-4) advanced to the semifinals with a 65-60 win, dropping Gig Harbor (23-3) into a consolation round game on Friday against either Mountlake Terrace or Mount Spokane. Friday’s game will tip-off at 10:30 a.m. at the Tacoma Dome.
With wins Friday and Saturday, the Tides could still finish as high as fourth in the tournament.
Will Landram led Gig Harbor with 19 points while Luke Browne added 18 and Christian Parrish had 11.
Nahmier Robinson, the son of former Washington Husky and NBA star Nate Robinson, led the Vikings with 15 points.
