The pool at Gig Harbor High School is closed because of a mechanical failure in the water circulation system.

Problems with the electrical system and pump led to the temporary closure, Patrick Gillespie, director of facilities, said Thursday.
An electrician addressed the electrical issue. Now the district is working with a contractor to check out the pump.
The district doesn’t have an estimated timeline on when the pool will reopen, according to spokeswoman Aimee Gordon.
“For safety reasons, if the water isn’t circulating, we can’t open the pool,” Gordon said.
Some scheduled activities have been moved to the Peninsula High School pool.
