Harbor Happenings: Summer music season begins
Summer music season kicks off Thursday, July 6, at Uptown Gig Harbor, with Adam Krum and the Highway 65 band bringing their brand of country to the Pavilion.

The free Uptown Summer Concert Series performances run from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday through mid-August. The schedule:
- July 6: Adam Krum and The Highway 65 Band, country
- July 13: The Michael Crain Band, classic rock
- July 20th The Shy Boys, classic rock
- July 27: The Profits, party rock
- Aug. 3: United By Music, blues and soul
- Aug. 10: Emerald City Throwdown, funk
PenMet’s Summer Concerts in the Park series, sponsored by Peninsula Light Co., launches at 6 p.m. June 12 with a performance by singer/songwriter Gina Belliveau. The series is Wednesdays at Sehmel Homstead Park. Find a full schedule here.
And the immensely popular Summer Sounds concert series returns next week at Skansie Brothers Park. Summer Sounds concerts are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, July 11 through Aug. 29, at Skansie Brothers Park.
Opening the series this year is Beat Frequency, a Vancouver, Wa.-based dance band that appeared on The Voice. Find the complete schedule here.

- The Greater Gig Harbor Foundation presents Summer Sips — an afternoon of live music and more than 60 locally crafted beers, wines, ciders, spirits, sodas, kombucha and more — on Saturday, July 8, at Uptown. Gene Sievers, Budapest West and My Guilty Pleasure play from noon until 7 p.m. Proceeds support the KGI Watershed’s Lu Winsor Memorial Environmental Grant program. Purchase tickets here.

Beach walks
Harbor WildWatch naturalists will lead free beach walks during low tide at several local spots on Thursday and Friday, July 6 and 7.
Thursday, choose between Kopachuck State Park starting at 1:30 p.m. or Joemma State Park at 2 p.m.
Friday’s locations are Owen Beach at 2 p.m. or Sunrise Beach Park at 2:30 p.m. Beach walks are free and no registration is needed, but a Discover Pass is required at state parks. Click here for information.
At the movies
- Flashback Cinema offerings this week at the Galaxy Uptown Theatre include “Jaws,” at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 5; and “Grease,” at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, July 9. Flashback movies are just $5.
- The SummerFest movie at Galaxy on Thursday, July 6, is “Puss in Boots – The Last Wish” at 10 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. Next Tuesday’s SummerFest film is “Beethoven” at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. SummerFest movies are just $2.
