Tides, Seahawks claim lopsided football victories
Gig Harbor scored on its first play and never looked back in a 50-0 South Sound 3A League football dismantling of North Thurston Friday night at Roy Anderson Field in Purdy.
The Tides (1-2, 3-2) got back on track after a couple of league losses to Peninsula and Central Kitsap. They play host to third-ranked Yelm (3-0, 5-0) on Thursday.
Also Friday night, Peninsula downed River Ridge 35-6 in conference play in Lacey. It was the fourth straight win for the sixth-ranked Seahawks (3-0, 4-1) since a season-opening loss to No. 2 Bellevue. Ethan Hogan ran 15 times for 110 yards and Aiden Lester rushed eight times for 115 yards. Each scored twice. Peninsula travels to North Thurston (0-3, 0-5) on Thursday.
