Letter to the Editor | Disappointed that politicians were barred from parade

Posted on June 4th, 2024 By:

I’m extremely disappointed in the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce’s decision to not allow politicians running for office a place in the Maritime parade this year.

That’s been one of the favorite parts of the parade for years, we like to see and cheer for our candidates. THERE’S NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT TO A COMMUNITY THEN WHO TO ELECT TO REPRESENT THEM! Especially in a Presidential election year.

We love to see the schools that represent themselves, marching bands, & community organizations, etc. Allowing businesses to advertise their wares in a parade, (in place of what’s important to the community), is like finding junk mail advertising in your mailbox.

It seems that you are the ones playing politics with the parade. Shame on you.
