16-year-old wounded in shooting at Gig Harbor home
A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds after an incident Wednesday night off of East Bay Drive.
At 10:44 p.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to several calls from people who heard 10 to 20 shots fired, according to spokesman Sgt. Darren Moss Jr. They arrived in the area of 25th Street NW and Sullivan Drive to find an abandoned vehicle at a house. Both the car and house had bullet holes in them.
Deputies spoke to a 60-year-old man who told them he was driving home when some young males jumped out of the woods and challenged him. He continued to his house, where two or three cars showed up and started shooting at the house, according to the man. The man grabbed his own gun and fired back, he said.
Deputies learned that a gunshot victim had been taken to St. Anthony Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Deputies spoke to people who were in the cars and they denied doing any shooting but said they were shot at. The abandoned vehicle had been stolen in Kitsap County. It was impounded for evidence. Nobody has been arrested. Detectives are still investigating.
