Brian Wickens named new principal at Harbor Ridge
Brian Wickens is the new principal at Harbor Ridge Middle School, Peninsula School District announced last week. Wickens replaces Mike Benoit, who previously was announced as the new principal at Peninsula High School.
Wickens has been an assistant principal at Harbor Ridge since 2004. Before that, he taught in Tacoma middle schools for 18 years and coached for 17 years at Lincoln High School.
The new principal has worked in education for 37 years, 36 of them with middle school students. He has a bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University and a master’s degree from City University.
Wickens has lived in Gig Harbor for 30 years.
“I’m excited and grateful for this new role as principal of Harbor Ridge. I’m thankful to be able to continue to work with the dedicated Harbor Ridge staff, fantastic students, and families,” Wickens said in a news release from the school district.
