Student: Kaylia Heidelberg

School: Peninsula High School

Category: Athletic Achievement

Kaylia Heidelberg is a driven student-athlete at Peninsula High School, whose talent on the basketball court is matched by her academic aspirations. She plans to attend Pacific University in Oregon after graduation, where she will play basketball while majoring in pre-medicine. Her ultimate goal is to become an orthopedic doctor and, eventually, a surgeon.

Kaylia draws inspiration from her family. “My mom is a nurse, my dad is a veteran and retired police officer, and my older brother has always supported me,” she says. This strong family foundation has encouraged her to pursue her dreams, both in athletics and academics.

Advice for incoming freshmen

Kaylia’s advice for incoming freshmen is to make connections and build strong bonds with others. “Enjoy the memories you’ll make because high school flies by fast,” she advises. She emphasizes the importance of cherishing each moment and forming lasting friendships.

A sign of strength at a young age

Kaylia shares a unique story from her early school days. “When I was in kindergarten, I broke my arm at recess playing on the monkey bars, and I didn’t cry,” she recalls with a laugh. This anecdote reflects her resilience and determination, qualities that have undoubtedly contributed to her success on and off the basketball court.

With her athletic talent, academic goals, and positive attitude, Kaylia Heidelberg exemplifies the spirit of a Student of Distinction. We wish her all the best as she begins her next chapter at Pacific University.

Best thing about high school: Reflecting on her high school experience, Kaylia says she’ll miss the amazing teachers and the fun memories she made over the four years. “The teachers at Peninsula High School are incredibly supportive,” she notes.
