Family as a source of inspiration

Davin’s family has been a major source of inspiration. “My mom, stepdad, and older brother have always been there to support me. They’ve set high expectations, and I’ve always strived to meet them,” he says. This support system has fueled his drive to succeed, giving him the motivation to push through challenges and aim for excellence.

Advice for incoming freshmen

Davin’s advice for incoming freshmen is rooted in resilience and adaptability. “Take your challenges and use them as motivation,” he suggests. “Adversity can be an opportunity to grow or to fail. If you see it as a chance to grow, you’ll be just fine.” He believes that facing obstacles is part of life, and learning to embrace them is key to success.

A personal philosophy rooted in harmony

Davin’s personal philosophy is inspired by Taoism. He believes in finding harmony in life and embracing the natural flow of things. Quoting Lao Tzu, he says: “By letting it go, it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try, the world is beyond winning.” This perspective guides him in his approach to life’s challenges.

Achievements/Activities: National Navy ROTC scholarship, NJROTC leadership roles

Favorite Teacher: Davin credits much of his success to his NJROTC instructor, Command Master Chief Robert Stockton, who has played a significant role in his growth. “CMC Stockton has not only guided me as a leader, but he has also provided experiences I couldn’t have had elsewhere,” says Davin. “He’s helped me meet people I would never have met and see things that most people don’t. He’s shaped my character and leadership qualities.”

Best thing about high school: Reflecting on his high school years, Davin says he will miss the mentors and strong support system at Peninsula High School. “I can’t thank them enough for helping me stay motivated and driven,” he says. The support he’s received has laid the foundation for his future success.
